Tumbleweed Gift & Thrift

The store has gone through a number of transitions over the years but remains a fun meeting place for residents, Community Day Program participants, families, staff, and visitors. Run by a core of dedicated volunteers, Tumbleweed is a destination for window shopping, buying a treat, or trying on something fabulous.

The gift shop offers a selection of beautiful décor, items for house and yard, and gift ware for all seasons and reasons. The store stocks fashionable clothing for women, including dresses, tops, cruise wear, accessories, and jewelry. Local craftspeople bring consignment items to the store such as scarves, wheelchair and walker bags, hand- knit mitts, socks, and cards. We also sell a selection of books by local authors.

Tumbleweed creates interesting and fun decorations and vignettes on a regular basis, giving residents opportunities to appreciate both the changing seasons and special holidays. After a dreary winter, spring displays, garden flags, and bright colours lift the spirits and welcome the start of sunshine and warmer weather.

The displays you see around Sherbrooke are coordinated by two of our staff and are used to brighten and normalize our home. Seasonally, visitors are welcomed by interesting displays that make Sherbrooke a fun place to be.

Tumbleweed also has a thriving thrift shop with “new to you” clothing and household items. The prices are great and residents enjoy picking out their own clothes and buying gifts for family members and friends. Donations of gently used recycled items can be dropped off at the store during business hours.  Small items can be bagged or boxed and left in front of the store on weekends and holidays.

All funds raised through Tumbleweed go to the Sherbrooke Foundation where they are used to enhance quality of life for residents and community day program participants.
